This is a handy kit which provides several benefits for your Ducati Monster:
- It enables you to remove the crankcase breather tank, for weight savings and
less clutter.
- It repositions the voltage regulator/rectifier for better cooling and improved
reliability.
- It makes a handy mounting bracket for a New Volt ignition (not included)
Ducatis are known for having rectifier/regulator failures. Most of the time, the
reason is overheating. The regulator module is a semiconductor device that gets hot.
The hotter it gets, the shorter its lifetime is. The 2002 and later Monsters have a
particularly poor rectifier mounting location. The unit is trapped under the seat.
That location has no air flow to keep the unit cool. The result is that the
regulators burn out easily and a new unit from Ducati is over $400, and a cheap generic
one is $200 or more. This kit was designed to solve that problem.
 This kit includes a mounting bracket which replaces your crankcase vent tank. It
flips the regulator upside down and rotates it to a different position. That allows
the cool ambient air that is under the bike to flow right over the regulator's
cooling fins. Testing shows that this bracket can drop the temperature of your
regulator by as much as 54 degrees F. This was after comparing the regulator
temperature after a 30-min city ride, before and after installing this bracket—same
bike, same day, same route driven! The faster and the harder you drive, the better
the kit works!
In addition to fixing the overheating rectifier problem, this bracket is a super
lightweight replacement for the crankcase vent filter tank. Even if you aren't
concerned about rectifier failure, this product is an excellent companion to the TPO
Crankcase Vent Filter Kit on Monsters. Install this bracket and you can remove even
more weight and clutter than the crankcase vent filter alone!
 Finally, we added an extra set of bolt holes to this bracket which enable it to be
used for mounting a New Volt Ignition module if you are running one. This is much
more trick than using double-sided tape!
The bracket is computer designed and manufactured on a state-of-the-art laser
cutting machine—creating a precise part that bolts on with no modification or
fiddling. It is made from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for excellent strength and light
weight. The bracket is coated matte black for good looks and corrosion resistance.
This kit is complete and is ready to install. It includes the precision-cut, stainless steel mounting hardware, wire ties, and complete
instructions (illustrated with color photos). This kit installs in about 30
minutes. There is NO CUTTING, NO DRILLING, NO MODIFICATION required.
