Ducati Radiator Fan Removal Kit
Note: The Radiator Fan Eliminator kit will not fit the Testastretta engines (998, 749, 999, 848, 1098, or Monster S4RS)
Want to knock several pounds of un-needed weight off of your Ducati? This is a very inexpensive way to do it.
The Radiator Fan removal kit is designed to save weight on your 4-valve Ducati sportbike. It enables you to remove the OEM radiator fan(s), radiator fan switch, and a significant amount of wiring from the motorcycle. The resultant weight savings is anywhere from about three pounds (Ducati 748) to more than five pounds (Ducati 998).
Ducati motorcycles are essentially racing machines that are modified for use on the street. To do this, Ducati adds street features like turn signals, mirrors, and lights. Another such feature is the radiator fan. Radiator fans theoretically help to cool the motorcycle when at a standstill (stopped in traffic, for example). However, when the motorcycle is moving, even at a slow pace, they are essentially useless. Once you get moving, the forward motion of the bike does all the work, and the fans are just dead weight. This kit enables the performance-minded rider to remove this extra weight from his motorcycle. When installed properly according to the included directions, you can expect to save several pounds of weight without compromising street practicality!
Everything you need to perform the conversion is supplied: this kit includes billet aluminum fittings, O-rings, complete directions, and a thickly laminated plastic coolant mixing chart (perfect for your toolbox).
Central to the kit is our billet aluminum block off plug that replaces the OEM fan switch. Not only does this facilitate the easy removal of the electrical parts, but it also replaces the heavy brass OEM part with a very lightweight aluminum piece.
Compare the OEM sensor to the TPO Billet piece: the weight savings are significant indeed:
This cutaway photo shows how the TPO piece is machined hollow in order to maximize weight savings.
TPO recommends this product for all performance applications including competition and street performance. However, this kit is not a good choice if you frequently operate your motorcycle in heavy, stop-and-go traffic, such as rush hour in a major city. This kit will not interfere with normal driving in a city environment. We are located in Texas, USA—this kit stands up to the HOT Texas summers with no problems whatsoever.
This is the cheapest 3-5 lbs of weight that you will ever save on your Ducati. You'd have to spend hundreds of dollars on carbon fiber body parts to save this amount of weight!
