However, like most motorcycles it is not without its shortcomings. The RC51 has a "flapper valve" mechanism in the air intake duct. Its purpose is to quiet down the intake noise. Unfortunately, it also costs you horsepower. The flapper valve mechanism is responsible for the commonly reported "flat spot" (dip) in horsepower around 5000-7000 RPM.
