TPO Racing Clutch Spring Retainers are simply the best you can buy for your Duc:
- Material. TPO retainers are CNC machined in the USA from 7075-T7 Aluminum Alloy. This alloy is a true aerospace grade and is more than twice as strong as the cheaper 6000-series general-purpose aluminum that our competitors use. The clutch in your Duc is responsible for transferring all the power from the thundering V-twin engine to the road. Do you want that trusted to "coke can" metal, or do you want an alloy that is designed for high-stress applications?
- Weight Savings. Becasue we use a superior alloy, we need less of it to acheive a strong part. TPO Retainers are designed using computer stress modeling to make sure that they are light and strong. Our retainers are not a verbatim copy of stock. Instead they are shaped differently to optimize strength and weight. The retainers are thicker and radiused in key areas, and are thinner in low-stress areas. The result? Our retainers weigh only 2 grams (0.0047 pounds) each. To put that in perspective, that is about 1/5 of what the OEM retainers weigh, or about half what other aluminum retainers weigh. Racers know that reducing rotating weight counts, and TPO Racing Clutch Spring Retainers are the lightest available, period.
- Precision. Take a close look at a factory Ducati retainer and you will notice they are sloppily made. The retainer itself is quite a bit smaller than the clutch spring, and the bolt hole in the center of the retainer is a lot larger than the bolt diameter. This means that when the clutch is assembled the springs sit crooked and out of balance. TPO Retainers are made to exacting tolerances--and our specifications are much more stringent than factory. TPO retainers fit precisely into your clutch springs without excess "wiggle room". The clutch spring bolts fit closely into the retainers without the extra play found in other retainers. This means that your clutch will have less vibration and a smoother feel.
